SNOW PLOWING – SENIORS & HANDICAPPED

The Service Department provides free residential snowplowing to residents who qualify. You must be an Orange Village resident age 65 or older or be physically or medically handicapped, as defined in Ohio law with a combined household income of less than $31,300 and have no able-bodied person living in your home. Exception:
However, no resident otherwise eligible above shall receive this service if an able-bodied person lives with resident at the same address.

PROVISIONS
No snow plowing will be furnished until the accumulation of snow reaches approximately three (3) inches as determined by the Service Director. Driveways will not be cleared more than once in any 24-hour period.
The snow removal vehicles will clear no more than a single driveway width. The applicant shall indicate the location of his driveway through the use of driveway markers which shall be visible from the cab of snow plow vehicles. Applicants shall not have side or overhead driveway obstructions which may interfere with snow removal operations.

Driveways must be clearly marked with snow markers and branches and vegetation cleared to reduce damage to village vehicles.

The Service Director may employ private snow removal contractors to perform the services. All contractors will be fully insured and bonded.

APPLICATION
Orange Village residents who qualify for Village snow plowing and who desire plowing services must obtain and file an application annually. Click here for the application. The signed and completed application and release shall be accompanied by a doctor’s letter indicating disability in cases of handicapped residents, or a birth certificate of an applicant 65 years of age or older, and photocopies of U.S. Income Tax Return filed by the applicant and each adult resident of the applicant’s household for the prior year must be submitted to the Village.

FALSIFICATION OF INFORMATION
The falsification of any information contained in the application or medical letter of the Village resident shall result in immediate and permanent ineligibility for snow plowing services and the applicant shall reimburse the Village for costs incurred.
