Council Seeking Charter Review Commission Members – 2026
Orange Village Council is seeking applicants for membership on the Charter Review Commission for 2026. Council shall, by ordinance, establish and appoint members to the Commission in early 2026. Members are required to be residents of Orange Village. Interested applicants should submit letters of interest and resumes via email to agirardi@orangevillage.com or by mail to Council Clerk, Orange Village, 4600 Lander Road, Orange Village, OH 44022. Letter of interest should include the reason for your interest in serving on the Commission. Resumes should contain professional and civic experience and current community involvement.
Overview
Within eight (8) years of January 1, 2002, and within every eight (8) years of the appointment of the most recent Charter Review Commission, Council shall, by ordinance, establish and appoint members to a Charter Review Commission. The Commission shall review the Charter and make such recommendations to Council as the Commission may deem to be appropriate.
Responsibilities
The Charter Review Commission shall, in meetings open to the public, review the Charter and make such recommendations to Council as the Commission may deem to be appropriate.
The members appointed to the Charter Revision Commission shall serve without compensation.
Amendments to Charter
Amendments to the Charter shall be effective only upon approval by the electors of the Municipality. Amendments may be initiated by a vote of five (5) members of Council or upon a petition, in the form prescribed by Section 5 of Article VII, signed by ten percent (10%) of the registered electors of the Municipality setting forth the text of any proposed amendment.
The submission of any proposed amendment to the electors shall be governed by the requirements of the Constitution of the State of Ohio, and, to the extent said Constitution shall fail to provide therefor, Council shall determine the manner for such submission. Any proposed amendment to the Charter shall be submitted to the electors at the next general election or regularly scheduled primary election.
