CodeRed Data Breach
Orange Village residents have been affected by the security breach. Please review the information below from Cuyahoga County:
Cuyahoga County is informing residents of a nationwide security incident involving the OnSolve CodeRED platform. The third-party system operated by Crisis24 has been subcontracted by Cuyahoga County and is used by participating municipalities to send alerts and notifications via the ReadyNotify application. On Tuesday, December 2. the County’s Office of Emergency Management learned that the CodeRED system had experienced a cybersecurity incident that potentially compromised ReadyNotify subscriber information.
Although Crisis24 has not disclosed to the County the extent of the security breach, it is important to note that the information stored within the ReadyNotify system is limited to names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and the lists to which users are subscribed. No financial data, social security numbers, or other sensitive information is stored in the system.
Those currently subscribed to ReadyNotify are urged to take proactive steps to keep their personal information secure.
Those subscribed to the County’s ReadyNotify emergency alert system should take action by:
- Creating new passwords for ReadyNotify accounts
- Creating new passwords for any accounts with the same or similar passwords used for Ready Notify
- Enabling multi-factor authentication wherever possible
- Monitoring all financial accounts for any unusual activity
**Please note that some residents may not have subscribed by creating an account, if that is the case you do not need to do anything at this time.**
Additionally, residents are advised to report suspicious or illegal activity to law enforcement.
