There are many scams out there. People who commit these types of crimes are always finding new ways to con others with the same goal –  to get your personal information or money.

Buying or Selling an Item?

Scammers may claim to be selling goods and services online, often at a price that’s too good to be true, and they may try to convince you that you can get a better price if you move the conversation to other communications channels, like email or chat apps. Once you pay them, they stop responding and the goods never arrive as promised. Scammers change payment methods often. Any unexpected request for immediate payment should be viewed as a scam.

They may also offer to buy the item you are selling. They request your phone number, email address, Venmo/Zelle information so they can pay you in advance. Please be careful and do not offer your information. There are legitimate people trying to buy and sell items but with so many scammers,  it is best to be cautious. Meet the buyer/seller in a public area that is well lit and has several people around.
