SOLICITING ON PUBLIC ROADS
We are aware that there are a number of families and people soliciting at intersections throughout the Village. The folks who are doing this know the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that people have a first amendment right to solicit money while in the public right of way from people that are in their vehicles. They have been provided information for social services and the police department has offered food for their family, which they declined. The Village cannot take action to prevent this behavior but if someone is impeding traffic or otherwise acting in an unsafe manner, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
