ORANGE VILLAGE POLICE WARN OF SUSPICIOUS BEHAVIOR IN OUR AREA!

Do not be a victim!

A Pepper Pike resident reported a suspicious man arrived at her door Friday claiming he needed to install new electrical wires inside her home. The resident was proactive and asked for identification and he was unable to produce it and left. There was also a burglary reported while the resident was home.

The information below is an example of a similar incident that occurred in Middleburg Heights. This was posted by the Middleburg Heights Police Department on their Facebook page.

The Middleburg Heights Police have received several calls from residents reference a male in a Black Ford F-150 pickup truck approaching residents in their homes claiming to work for the electric company. The male claims he needs access to the residence to perform maintenance functions. The male was reported to have a darker complexion and be wearing a yellow reflective utility worker vest. It is believed this male may be part of a distraction burglary ring operating in several surrounding municipalities. Residents are encouraged to contact the police if they observe any persons or activity which could be related to these events. Residents are reminded not to let any persons posing as workers into your homes in situations where you did not initiate the contact.

Please note that the incident described above uses the modus operandi (m.o.) but the offender and vehicle may not be the same.

Orange Village Police Department reminds residents to never let any unexpected visitor into your home. Please make sure you ask for identification, check it thoroughly and if you have any suspicions, lock your door and call 9-1-1 immediately.

If you see anything suspicious at any time including cars driving in your neighborhood late at night with their headlights off or anything you feel is suspicious, please call 9-1-1 immediately.

Protect yourself! Keep your car and home doors locked, day and night and even when you are home!
