SUMMARY:Computer / Escrap Collection
DESCRIPTION:August 3rd through August 28th \nMonday – Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. \nOrange Village Service Department\, 4680 Lander Road \nOrange Village in collaboration with Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District collects computers on the first Friday of every month and during the entire month of August. The equipment is sent to RET3 Job Corp to be wiped of all information and made into viable computers that are donated back to Northeast Ohio. \nAbout RET3 Job Corp.\nRET3 Job Corp. is a non-profit organization dedicated to Refurbishing\, Reusing\, and Recycling computer and electronic equipment while Educating and Training recipients and the transitional workforce to repair\, upgrade\, and use computers; thus helping to shrink the digital divide and create a more productive and technologically adept workforce in northeast Ohio. \nInformation from Cuyahoga County — July 17\, 2020\nGreater Cleveland Digital Equity Fund \nThe County has partnered with The Cleveland Foundation\, The George Gund Foundation and T-Mobile to create the Greater Cleveland Digital Equity Fund\, which will be used to address the digital divide throughout Greater Cleveland. More than 1 in 5 households in the county have no internet access\, with more than half of Cleveland households that make less than $20\,000 completely disconnected from the digital world. Local organizations PCs for People and RET3 will provide up to 10\,000 computers and/or ongoing support to students in public schools and partner charter schools in Greater Cleveland–but this project is just the beginning of ongoing efforts to decrease the digital divide. \n
