Council Member Dan Brown
January, 2013
After over 11 years as an elected official in Orange Village, I am resigning my position as a Council Person. I have appreciated working on behalf of this community over that time and have a great deal of respect for the Village Administration, its employees and my fellow Council Members. I am stepping down now to allow another person that has the energy and drive that I came to this job with to come forward. I am resigning mid term so that they can get acquainted with the position in the same manner I did, before the next election. I hope that others in the community will step forward to do this rewarding work that benefits us all. Thank you to the residents of Orange Village for having provided me the opportunity to serve you.
Dan B. Brown, CPG
I was appointed to Orange Village Council in June 2000 and have served continuously since then. In 2001and 2005 I ran successful campaigns to be re-elected to Orange Village Council. I have been involved with many aspects of our governance, including serving as Council President. My passion for volunteerism led me to participate in local government. Although I am actively involved in volunteering outside of Orange Village, I was seeking to give something back to my community. I have found this opportunity to help my own community to be a rewarding experience.
As an environmental consultant, I bring a unique perspective from my professional life to Village Council. I have spent my entire professional career in the investigation and remediation of environmental contamination and, since 1999; I have run my own consulting firm, Partners Environmental Consulting, Inc. This experience has been useful in my role as Chairman of the Environmental Committee and in supporting the Village's efforts to complete the Phase II Storm Water Management Plan and Balanced Growth Plan. I also represent the Village as an Executive Committee Member of the Chagrin River Watershed Partners and I have been instrumental in managing various environmental related issues for the Village, including recycling. In 2006, I researched and later proposed the use of recycling containers for all Orange Village residents, a procedure that was adopted by Council in 2007 and was put into practice in 2008. I am proud to say that, with the implementation of this program, our Village has nearly doubled its recycling volume of municipal household waste and received an award from the Cuyahoga Solid Waster District.
I am a graduate of Shaker Heights High School (Class of 1982) and I have an undergraduate degree in Geology (class of 1987) from Fort Lewis College, located in Durango, Colorado. I am a lifelong Cleveland native and spent several years living in Orange after graduating High School. I later returned to Orange as an adult, where I purchased a home in 1997.
I have two children; a son Jordan, and a daughter Casey. I enjoy participating in their activities and traveling with them on family vacations. Both are enrolled in the Orange School System and are actively involved with many of the community-sponsored activities.
